Recorded: April 5, 2017

Presenters: Brian Taylor, AuD

CEUs: 0.1

Duration: 1 hour

Instructional Level: Intermediate

Learner Outcomes: Upon completion, each participant in the eAudiology Web seminar will be able to:

  1. Utlize peer-reviewed evidence from randomized controlled trials to create a tinnitus management program in their clinic.
  2. Discuss the unmet patient demand for tinnitus services.
  3. Utilize the six-step tinnitus management guidelines proposed in 2014 by the American Academy of Otolaryngology as a template for creating and managing their own tinnitus program.

Description: Recent reports in the peer-reviewed literature suggest there are ample opportunities for audiologists to get actively involved in the long-term care and management of patients experiencing bothersome tinnitus. This seminar will review the latest tinnitus management research and report on the clinical effectiveness of various types of device-oriented and counseling-based approaches for managing patients with tinnitus. The 2014 6-step approach to clinical intervention from the American Academy of Otolaryngology and the audiologist’s role within it will serve as a guide.
