AAA 2019: The What, Why, and How of Aural Rehabilitation
Recorded at AAA 2019, Thursday, March 28, 2019
Presenter: Dusty Jessen, AuD
CEUs: 0.1
Instructional Level: Fundamental
Description: Aural rehabilitation is the comprehensive treatment that audiologists provide to help patients cope with the challenges related to hearing loss. However, there seems to be some confusion among providers about what constitutes a comprehensive AR program, why it is necessary to incorporate all aspects of AR, and how to effectively make this fit into our busy clinic schedules. This course will answer these questions by providing practical strategies and readily available tools that can be implemented immediately.
Learning Objectives:
- List the components of a comprehensive aural rehabilitation program.
- Describe 4 strategies that will help to overcome commonly reported challenges related to the provision of aural rehabilitation.
- Identify several specific tools that can be used immediately to incorporate education, counseling, and auditory training into the treatment program.
