Maximizing Outcomes for Children in Schools: The Responsibility of Every Audiologist (0.1 CEUs)

Recorded: April 5, 2017

Presenters: Jane Madell, PhD, FAAA; Carol Flexer, PhD

CEUs: 0.1

Duration: 1 hour

Instructional Level: Intermediate

Learner Outcomes: Upon completion, each participant in the eAudiology Web seminar will be able to:

  1. Identify factors that are significant for success in school for children with hearing loss.
  2. Recognize classroom situations that interfere with listening.
  3. Develop suggestions for improving acoustic accessibility.

Description: Many school districts no longer have educational audiologists. Students with hearing loss continue to need all the services that educational audiologists have provided. Clinical audiologists now need to pick up this slack if their young patients with hearing loss are going to succeed in today’s challenging academic environment. This session will discuss contemporary audiological needs of children with hearing loss in schools, how clinical audiologists can help meet those needs, and how to network with schools from a clinical setting.
