Learner Outcomes: Upon completion, each participant in the eAudiology Web seminar will be able to:
- Differentiate between ethics, values, and morals, as well as understand the philosophical foundations of each.
- Describe and differentiate between licensure and certification, the role of each, and the role of professional ethics and obligations, including overlap and differences.
- Identify ethical issues relating to the preceptor/student relationship, evaluate scenarios, and determine whether or not noncompliance with the Code of Ethics has occurred.
Description: This presentation by members of the Academy’s Ethical Practices Committee (EPC) will review current activities and charges of the EPC and updates to the Academy’s Code of Ethics. Included will be a compelling discussion of conflicts of interest, guidelines for relationships with industry and for research, as well as professional and student supervision issues. Challenging legal and ethical situations will be presented for audience comment. Active participation will be encouraged.
