Upon completion, each participant in the Web seminar will be able to:
1. Recognize the emotional intelligence (EQ) competency.
2. Explain why EQ is so important for executive leaders to have, and why it is so hard to maintain.
3. Recognize the skillset required to have EQ
Emotional Intelligence, or EQ, is a set of abilities we each have to recognize our behaviors, moods, and impulses and manage them according to the situation or person with whom we are dealing. This eAudiology Web seminar explains the correlation between Emotional Intelligence, performance effectiveness, and patient care. Audience members will receive strategies for utilizing the key EQ skill set including empathy, optimism, and resiliency, to leverage EQ to reach higher levels of communication success between the audiologist and their staff and patients.
Jen Shirkani, MA is the CEO / President of Penumbra Group. She has over 20 years of experience as a learning and development specialist, coach and speaker. She works with individuals one-on-one, with teams, small groups, and large speaking venues. Often requested for leadership and sales conferences, she provides insight into human dynamics in a humorous and engaging way. Her topics often include Emotional Intelligence presented from a leadership perspective filled with practical strategies and immediately useable tips. Jen has worked with organizations from the Fortune 50 ($40B) to family-owned entities specializing in the application of Emotional Intelligence. She holds a Masters Degree in Organizational Leadership.
She is certified in several assessments and has been educated in personality styles, motivation theory, development coaching, principles of adult learning, and the stages of human development. She started training on the Emotional Intelligence competency in 1996 and has since been certified to deliver the MHS Emotional Intelligence assessment (EQi) and the Hay Group Emotional Competence Inventories (ECI/ESCI). Since then, she has administered over 1,000 Emotional Intelligence assessments to employees in organizations across the United States.
Her corporate career includes learning and development roles at specialty retailer Nordstrom, Select Comfort (the Sleep Number Bed), and Bergen Brunswig (a Fortune 500 pharmaceutical distributor). She has also been certified in programs by Franklin Covey, Achieve Global, and the TRACOM Group.
